Repose lounge chairs by Friso Kramer 1960

Re-upholstered Mid-Century Modern set of Repose lounge chairs designed by Dutch industrial designer Friso Kramer in 1960 for furniture company Ahrend de Cirkel. The black faux leather upholstered armrests, metal frame and back of the chair are in excellent condition. Label present of manufacturer.

Friso Kramer designed the Repose chair in 1960 and it was manufactured by ‘De Cirkel’ during the 1960s and 1970s in the Netherlands. Immediately the design was awarded the prestigious Signe D’Or in 1960. The back of the chair is an enameled folded sheet metal. Friso Kramer started his career in 1945 at the J.P. Kloos Office. From 1948 to 1963 he was employed as designer at steel furniture production company De Cirkel (since 1939 part of the Ahrend group). There Kramer developed the highly successful Revolt and Result chairs, drawing boards, school furniture and Repose armchairs.
