Enzo Mari Autoprogettazione

This handcrafted pinewood dining table is manufactured in spirit of Enzo Mari Autoprogettazione project. The Table can seat four to six persons. Mari designed the ‘Tavolo Rettangolare’ in 1974 and produced the instructions as open source design. The table is built and sanded identical to Enzo Mari’s instructions of 1974. The table will be send in four prefab parts with assembling instructions.

Enzo Mari is an icon amongst furniture designers. He might be best known for his 1974 book (and furniture designs) of “Autoprogettazione”, a DIY instruction manual detailing 19 pieces of furniture. Mari used only common dimensional lumber fastened with nails, avoiding cuts, joinery, and finishes. He then released the designs as a simple book instead of actual products, in the hope that the individual would learn about carpentry, design and the expression of quality through the process of building. His philosophy of this project was to give the means of production (and of owning design furniture) back into the hands of the individual.

Mari ontwierp de ‘Tavolo Rettangolare’ in 1974 en publiceerde de instructies als ‘open source’ design. De tafel is gemaakt, geschroefd  en geschuurd conform de instructies uit 1974. Deze tafel zal in vier prefab onderdelen worden verzonden.
