First as a furniture maker and in 1939 he became head of the design- and manufacturing department. Ruth was Artifort’s first permanent designer. He was well-known for his cutting edge designs for mainly living rooms. His most famous chairs are the Congo (1952) and Penguin chair. He also inspired a lot of other designers at Artifort.
