Daybed Cleopatra by Andre Cordemeyer

Daybed Cleopatra by Andre Cordemeyer

Mid-Century Modern Daybed Cleopatra by Andre Cordemeyer new upholstered in an excellent quality brown/cognac coloured faux leather padded upholstery, with new double layered foam fillings. The springs are in excellent condition. This piece is re-upholstered with additional round head pillow. The item was designed in 1953 by Andre Cordemeyer for Auping (Holland). The frame is made of black coated metal (slight traces of use) and the ends are of solid teak.

Born in 1924 in Bussum, the Netherlands, André Robert (A. R.) Cordemeyer/ Cordemeijer was a Dutch industrial designer active in the 1950s and 1960s, working chiefly for manufacturing brand Gispen with other designers and architects such as Wim and Gerrit Rietveld and J.J.P. Oud. In 1953, Cordemeyer designed the Cleopatra Daybed, which Auping produced until 1982. Featuring a wire mesh base and a coated metal frame with solid teak ends, the design became an instant classic.

*We have more frames in stock and like all our upholstered pieces, this item can be upholstered to your wishes.*
